Flappr Fantasy Football Week Nine: A New Fren In Town

Trying to run a Fantasy Football team is kind of like managing your kid’s tee ball team. You quickly realize that once the ball is in play, you can’t do anything to get the team to do what you want. Heck, you don’t even know if you’ll have enough players show up to play the game. Then there will be that kid who insists on running to third base when he hits the ball. Week 9 in the Flappr FFL saw teams scrambling to replace players who were suddenly out of the lineup, for reasons from COVID to suddenly being released.

The game with the best news of the week involved the Master Bedroom Dwellers (@Twi77erSuxDong) taking on the Hackensack Cockles (@Travis_Tyree). This morning we found out that Travis will be joining the rest of us with “Dad Bods”.

Congratulations to Travis!

The next game was our closest of the weekend, featuring Stephanie’s Amazing Team (@Stephanieco15) against Derrick Henry’s White Twin (@jonbrooks935). It all came down to the Sunday Night game, where Stephanie had two players going. In the end, she fell 5.18 points short. Unfortunately, because the Cowboys were so bad, her kicker scored zero.

The next closest game was between Bad Mans (@snakebro7) and the Italian Defense League (@michcusejac5). Leroy found his way back to the league chat and the win column by just under 15 points. The Italians were one of the teams affected by several Cardinal players being declared out of the lineup, with no good option to replace them on Sunday afternoon. JAC was really scouring the internet for replacement advice.

From there, we go to the Fugly Slots (@balling_it) playing the Penalty Boxers (@ground_miller). Because Kyler Murray sat out, I had to find a replacement QB before the Sunday afternoon games. I decided to drop James Conner for Jordan Love. All James Conner did was go out and score 40.3 points in the game after Chase Edmonds got hurt. So I’m giving myself the Flappr Forgotten Man award. Now he’s available for somebody else next week. The Slots came up a little short in this one, but he’s still got a positive attitude.

In the final game of the weekend, M.I.L.F (Man I Love Football) (@ElderBartleby) took on Two Scoops (@_Miller__Lite_). Two Scoops got a big day from the Justin Herbert to Keenan Allen connection for the Chargers. Bart had to scramble to find a replacement for Aaron Rodgers due to his COVID follies, and it ended up being the difference in the game. But, Bart has a newfound respect for ARod after he stood up for himself against the woke mob.

My editor has told me that I forgot to give the Flappr Top Hat award to the highest scoring team earlier in the column. With a score of 140.86 points, the honor goes to the Master Bedroom Dwellers. It’s just that the rest of us have had to tune him out a bit with all the jawing he’s been doing.

Anyway, the top 4 positions that make the playoffs have been shuffled again this week. It’s still wide open.
