WATCH: Jerry Nadler Says Antifa Violence in Portland is a "Myth"

Austen Fletcher, a writer-producer that goes by @fleccas on Twitter, had a brief opportunity to talk with New York Democratic Congressman, Jerry Nadler, yesterday and asked him his thoughts on the violence we're seeing from Antifa in Portland, Oregon. Let's watch Nadler's response to the question:

A myth?

A myth?

A myth?

A myth?

A myth?

A myth?

Hmph. That's an interesting take from the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. To his credit, he is consistent - just last month he said that Antifa was "imaginary":

The real story here isn't that Jerry Nadler is stupid or liar (he's probably both, but more of the latter). No, the real story here is what this brazen gas-lighting represents - that Democrats feel empowered to lie because they know the media will not hold them accountable. That is an insanely powerful weapon for a politician to have - the ability to know when faced with a political liability (like, Antifa currently is for Democrats) you can just pretend the problem doesn't exist rather than take a position.

For example, if Nadler had responded "hey, those maniacs in Portland really should stop trying to burn down federal property" , he likely would've been met with opposition from the far left flank of his party that believes that we SHOULD burn down the vestiges of power or whatever. So instead, he just pretends it doesn't exist and the media is NOT going to eviscerate Nadler for being either a) dumb or b) a liar.

So what does that mean? To me, it means that journalism and journalists have created an incentive system for one party to blatantly lie to the American people - because there are no consequences. Given that the principles of journalism include the seeking and uncovering of facts and truth and the dissemination of those facts to the public so that they may be educated - it doesn't appear that journalism is doing its job well these days.

TL;DR: it's good to be a Democrat.
