GOOOOOOOD Morning, everyone. It's a day that ends in Y, so Joe Biden said some crazy shit.
What did he say today? Let's watch:
*WOOF* I'm going to let you catch your breath before we try and break down all the malarkey spewed in that 90 second clip - to entertain you, I present a brief interlude of some of my favorite Biden faces from the interview:
Catch your breath? Ok, good.
Come on, man!. . . let's try and figure out what Joe was tryin' to say by reviewing a couple of quotes from the clip.
So the interviewer here, Errol Barnett, asks a totally fair question to start off the interview. Joe Biden has indeed said that he is "constantly" tested for cognitive decline and the question asked him to be specific about whether or not he's taken an ACTUAL cognitive health test. Let's see how Joe responds:
"No, I haven't taken a test. Why the hell would I take a test? C'mon man. That's like saying you, before you got in this program, if you take a test where you're taking cocaine or not, what do you think huh? Are you a junkie?"
Me thinks the lady doth protest too much. How is this a coherent or appropriate answer to the question? Basically, the question implies that Americans should have information as to whether or not a president is mentally fit to hold the office. The best way Biden can assuage those concerns (if he doesn't want to take a test) is to not talk like a babbling fool waiting for his next cup of applesauce. It's also a very bold choice for Joe to use cocaine test for his analogy: a) it's kind of shitty to suggest a black journalist might have a cocaine problem and ask him if he's a "junkie" and; b) umm. . . has he met his son, Hunter? Pretty sure Hunter would fail that cocaine entry test like. . . every day.
Let's get to the second notable moment of the interview clip:
Yeah. . . not great. If you're going to make an argument that you don't need to take a cognitive health test and that you want the American people to judge your physical and mental fitness based on your actions, it's probably best if you can actually get the words out coherently.
The biggest issue for me isn't that Biden won't take a cognitive test (maybe he should, but I'm not holding that against him) - no, the biggest issue for me is that Joe Biden continues to say insanely fucking weird things on a daily basis. That SHOULD be an issue for the candidate running on a "return to normalcy" campaign -it hasn't been, however, because Biden hides in his basement and the media covers up for his mistakes. We shouldn't lie to ourselves and pretend that Biden is the same Biden we saw even 4 years ago - he's not and it's a terrifying thought that the only thing standing in the way of the socialist mobs might be 2/3's of a Joe Biden (AKA 1/3 of a normal man).
Thankfully, it appears, by way of this interview, that Joe Biden WILL debate the president this fall. In addition to being appointment television, it will provide some crucial context as to whether or not Joe Biden is mentally strong enough to hold the office. The voters deserve at least that much.
