Rep. Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) Hits New Rhetorical Low
There's this gif, where a guy sort of blinks and then shakes his head in disbelief. Surely it was made for Ms. Ocasio-Cortez.
There's this really great episode from season five of Law & Order, where McCoy (Ben Stone unfortunately departed after season 4) is questioning an ex-financier about a crime. The character's name was Tappan, and he had one of the best lines in a television series:
"I concede your point. If things were different, they wouldn't be the same."
This line has, perhaps, never better applied to real life.
Fine, Ma'am. We concede your point. If Rittenhouse were a completely different person--perhaps one motivated by an ingrained religious bigotry like Omar Mateen in the Pulse Nightclub Shootings, and if his actions had been taken in a completely different context--like when Sayfullo Habibullaevich Saipov decided to show his allegiance to ISIL by committing almost a full mile worth of vehicular homicide in NYC, things might be different.
Perhaps if Rittenhouse hadn't surrendered peacefully--in fact going so far as to hand his gun to the officer and say exactly what had happened--instead of doing something like Somali refugee Abdul Razak Ali Artan, who had to be shot and killed on site at Ohio State after trying to kill 11 people.
Perhaps if Rittenhouse hadn't been standing outside property as a guard against Democrat rioters, and had perhaps been instead, say, Elton Simpson, Nadir Hamid Soofi, and Abdul Malik Abdul Kareem who preemptively and with deliberation attempted to kill as many people at the Curtis Culwell Center as they could as retribution for Muhammad, he wouldn't have been released.
However, that's not what happened. Your false equivalency is farcical.
The reality is that Rittenhouse is a natural born citizen, who immediately surrendered, has no prior criminal history, and whose story is is backed up by copious amounts of video. That's not just this columnist whistling Dixie either, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, because even your party's hometown paper--the New York Times--admitted as much in an extremely detailed column. You should try reading it some time.
"IF A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT SET OF CIRCUMSTANCES PRESENTED ITSELF YOU MIGHT NOT ACT THE SAME, MR. BIG SHOT" is a premise so ridiculous that even the freshmen on a high school debate team could shoot it full of holes.
I mean, not as big of holes as American Hero Second Class Kyle Rittenhouse put into that Democrat/Antifa Rioter who was trying to commit murder, but still pretty big.
Look, Ms. Ocasio-Cortez, everyone knows that you like to take full advantage of the fact that you represent one of the dumbest districts in America, and so you can spout off whatever insane humdrum descends from the clouds into that vacuous head of yours. That's your God given right, I suppose, to be an imbecile.
For the sake of the country though, you need to chill. Maybe try going a whole week without getting offended. Try just peacefully existing. You don't have to be mad all the time.
After all, nobody likes a witch.
