Normally, Tom Cotton is one of the more enjoyable congressmen, but this is basically everything that frustrates writers like this one about the GOP.
Look, the bill itself is great. It addresses a legitimate concern in an aggressive way. And that's sort of the problem.
CRT has been festering for years. The GOP held both chambers of Congress and the White House from 2016 until January 2019. They could have passed this then. Democrats would have, because Democrats have learned that it's very hard to repeal legislation and getting something enacted is often akin to winning the war.
But no, we're going to do failure theater. Because this is bill has no chance of passing.
Sure. . . that sounds fun! The only problem is that the GOP controls exactly 0 federal legislative bodies and does not control the White House.
So, again, this bill - while the sort of thing the GOP should be doing - is nothing more than a masturbatory exercise.
Let me know when you have unified control of government again, then we can talk.
