NBA TV Ratings Have Plummeted

So, the polls don't look good this week. Don't go look at them, just vote on November 3rd.

To help distract from a week where everyone seems a bit defeated, I thought I'd share with you some positive news: NBA Ratings have cratered, like REAL BAD.

According to SportsMediaWatch:

Game 3 averaged a 3.1 rating and 5.94 million viewers. Those numbers made Game 3 the least watched and lowest rated NBA Finals game on record. That continues a poor trend for the 2020 NBA Finals. Prior to Game 3, the record for the least viewed Finals broadcast came during Game 2. Before that, the record belonged to Game 1 of the 2020 NBA Finals.

For comparison, here are the number of average viewers for the first three games of the last three NBA Finals:

2018: 17.9 million

2019: 13.6 million

2020: 5.3 million

For reference, here is a graphic of the LOWEST rated NBA Finals games of ALL TIME:

Now, NBA apologists will say "THE NBA SCHEDULE IS ALL THROWN OUT OF WHACK!!!!" and "its because people don't like watching games without fans in the stands!!!" This is basically what the Professional Sports Version of Brian Stelter, Darren Rovell, tweeted on Monday:

If "the NBA's position on politics and race has very little" to do with it's current ratings decline, then why did the NBA's phallus-headed Commissioner, Adam Silver, tell this to ESPN's Rachel Nichols during a half-time interview last night:

“I would say, in terms of the messages you see on the court, on the jerseys, this was an extraordinary moment in time when we began these discussions with the players and what we all lived through this summer,” Silver explained. “My sense is there will be somewhat a return to normalcy, that those messages will largely be left to be delivered off the floor.”

Basically, the NBA is feeling the pain of going full woke and will be scaling back its virtue signaling next season.

So, there you go. Something to smile about. I guess. Sort of? Well, not really.

Happy Wednesday.

God Bless America.
