In news that should surprise literally nobody, Fox News unearthed a clip from 2019 where Joe Biden's new climate czar (whatever the fuck that means), John Kerry, discusses his decision to take a private jet to Iceland to receive the Arctic Circle award for climate leadership (whatever the fuck that is):
This quote really got me:
I can't sail across the ocean. I have to fly, meet with people and get things done.
Good lord, John Kerry, we know you're a douche, but do you really need to pretend like zoom and skype didn't exist back in 2019? If you wanted to appear in person, you really couldn't fly commercial? Couldn't be bothered to sit along side the poors like us? Seriously, you're going to use the Paris climate accords as some type of shield from criticism? The Paris climate accords (which Joe Biden just entered us back into) are basically worthless. They're a nice thing to point to and say "hey we're doing something!" but the specific climate goals are politically encouraged, rather than legally bound. That means, they're worthless. Oh, and people forget to mention that even though Trump pulled us out of the Paris climate accords, the the United States saw the largest decline in energy-related CO2 emissions in 2019 on a country basis and that US emissions are now down by more than any country for the last twenty years.
What always galls me about people like Kerry and his ilk is that they literally tell us that we're at threat level midnight and that the world is going to end in X days, months, years - but can't be bothered to make any of the sacrifices that they demand of you and me. This fucking guy flew a private jet to Iceland to receive a tongue bath from other climate experts on how amazing he is at fighting climate change. Likewise, if we're so concerned about rising sea levels, why did the Obamas buy a FIFTEEN MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE on the fucking ocean back in 2019? If you're trying to sell me on how we're all about to die, can't you people at least pretend your example matters? Hell, even Bernie Sanders flies commercial:
This isn't to say that we shouldn't be concerned about the environment. This isn't to say that humans have no effect on the environment. This isn't to say that all of this stuff is a "hoax". We should take this stuff seriously, but not without a measure of appreciation for: a) if drastic, economy crippling, actions taken by our government will have any real impact, especially if China and India do not take similar actions; and b) how "climate change" can be and has been manipulated by progressives to include things that are totally unrelated to climate change - like increasing the minimum wage and Medicare For All.
So, I guess my point is that if you want us to take you seriously - you should at least be willing to do the bare minimum to not expose yourself as a complete hypocrite.
Great work, Climate Czar!
