Flappr Fantasy Football Week 5: Warming The Cockles Of Your Cold, Black Heart

Week five featured another first for the league. The top two scoring teams both scored 144.xx points, with the final difference for this week's Top Hat award ending up being 0.46 points. The Hackensack Cockles edged out The Italian Defense Force for the honor. This is all the more impressive when you consider that in Week 3, this team only put up 63.48 points and had 4 of his top 6 draft picks out with injuries. Congratulations to @SteroidRespectr for persevering and winning this week's Top Hat. You should follow him and read his blog pieces at Flappr.

It is plainly obvious that football is a violent game which can cause serious injuries to the players. Since former players sued the NFL over CTE and concussion related care, the NFL has taken steps to prevent serious injuries to players through rule changes. One of the most controversial changes to the rules involves attempts to protect the quarterbacks from injury. Everyone can understand penalizing helmet to helmet contact or hitting a defenseless player unnecessarily, but this weekend had another 2 instances of "Roughing the Passer" which turned big sacks into a first down for the offense. You tell me why one of these tackles is roughing the passer and the other isn't.

Heading into Week 5, there was one undefeated team and no team that hadn't won. Here's what happened in this week's games.

Mattison’s 2nd Crusade (@Twi77erSuxDong)vs. Hackensack Cockles (@SteroidRespectr): You already know the Cockles had this week's highest score, leading from Thursday night on. He got a big chunk of that with Austin Ekeler and Alvin Kamara. Mattison's 2nd Crusade traded Dalvin Cook for Davante Adams this week, which came up about even in points. The rest of his team didn't show up. @SteroidRespectr defeats against @Twi77erSuxDong 144.58 – 113.52.

Fugly Slots (@balling_it) vs. Italian Defense League (@michcusejac5): The Italians had a great week behind Leonard Fournette and Derrick Henry. The Fugly Slots saw Teddy Bridgewater go out early and their fortunes with him. @michcusejac5 beats @balling_it 144.12 – 84.70.

Zach Wilson Banged My Mom (@_Miller__Lite_) vs. M.I.L.F. (Man I Love Football) (@ElderBartleby): Miller Lite led this one all the way, as he took the lead behind Russell Wilson on Thursday and never looked back. It came down to Monday night, with Bart having Darren Waller against Daniel Carlson for Miller Lite. Unfortunately, Derek Carr has a new BFF and he's forgotten about Waller. @_Miller__Lite_ topped @ElderBartleby 113.62 – 87.20.

Derrick Henry's White Twin (@jonbrooks935) vs. Uncle AC and The Academics (@ywst_ac): The White Twin took a strong lead during the Sunday games and had a decent lead after SNF. Uncle AC had Josh Jacobs & Travis Kelce on MNF, and they both went off. Jon wins the Forgotten Man Award for leaving the New England D/ST on the bench with 22 points. @ywst_ac won over @jonbrooks935 142.12 – 113.36.

Penalty Boxers (@ground_miller) vs. Bad Mans (@Nworb_Yorel): This game was virtually tied all Sunday, with Leroy having a small lead at the end. The Boxers had Patrick Mahomes on MNF, who led them to a win after a slow start. @ground_miller beats @Nworb_Yorel 128.04 - 97.88 to stay undefeated.

Here's our standings after 5 weeks.
